Vickie Veitenheimer Barrett, age 71, of Sherman, Texas formerly of Windthorst, Texas passed away August 2, 2025 in Beaumont, Texas.
A small memorial will be held in Whitesboro.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Kourtyard Event Center, 18813 US Hwy. 281 Windthorst, Texas 76389.
Vickie was born Mary 28, 1954 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Edward Albert Veitenheimer and Alvina Marie Steinberger Veitenheimer.
She graduated from Windthorst High School and attended Grayson County College. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Texas.
Vickie met Robert Dale Barrett in Nashville, Tennessee where she drove the Texas Wagon and rode horseback on the Bicentennial Wagon Train. They were married April 15, 1978 in Windthorst. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2020.
Vickie was the head ride secretary on the Texas Sesquicentennial Wagon Train, living historian and a reenactor.
She was a Data Entry Specialist for Texas Instruments for eleven years, Photronics for ten years, State of Texas for five years and Ed's Café for eighteen years. Vickie was also the owner and operator of Mystery Lady's Mercantile. She retired in 2014.
Vickie was the manager of S & S 4-H Club and also S & S Peewee Baseball and Softball League.
Survivors include two sons, James Albert Barrett of Cash, Texas, and Jacob Levi Barrett and wife, Bethanie; two daughters, Helen Marie Barrett of Sherman, Texas, Crystal Dawn White and husband, Allen of Wellston, Oklahoma; four brothers, Eddie Veitenheimer and wife, Joann of Deer Creek, Texas, Robert Veitenheimer of Henrietta, Texas, Larry Veitenheimer and wife, Cyndi of Duncan, Oklahoma and Joseph Veitenheimer and wife, Sara of Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Virgie Horn and husband, Jerry and Vinie Wolf, all of Windthorst; twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Ricky, two brothers, and one sister.
She will be sorely missed and thought of often.
