In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2. As of July 26, 2014, Winston Dale Murphy resides in that place prepared especially for him by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at First Baptist Church Archer City, with Roger Deerinwater officiating. There will be no graveside services. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

Dale was born on July 14, 1925 in Cannon, Texas, to the late James Walter Murphy and Willa Cipher Murphy. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Murphy, in World War II, and Vincent Murphy.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Johnye Strickland Murphy; sons, Dale Murphy Jr., and wife Barbara, and Gary Murphy, and Nancy McKinley, all of Archer City; grandsons, Bret Murphy and wife, Shannon, of Wichita Falls, and Drew Murphy of Fort Worth; great grandson, Dylan Murphy of Wichita Falls; niece, Dottie Murphy Morrison, and husband, Lonnie, of Henrietta, and nephew, Vincent Murphy Jr., and wife, Kay, of Wichita Falls.

Dale was a hard working man, beginning as a farmer and later as a rancher, and car dealer for 47 years. His "Trade With The Trader" slogan was known throughout Texas. Dale loved people, and never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, and he blessed others with his friendly demeanor and sense of humor. He was devoted to his Lord, his family, and his community. Dale was a member of First Baptist Church Archer City, where he loved teaching the Boys' Sunday School Class for many years. He also enjoyed helping young people and their families in the Archer Junior Livestock Auctions. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, and a 32nd degree Mason.

The family wishes to express sincere thanks to House of Hope, United Regional Health Care System, and Hospice of Wichita Falls for the outstanding care Dale received, and would like to request that any memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Archer City, P.O. 756, Archer City, Texas 76351.
