Winford Shelnutt, age 88, of Electra, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021 in Electra.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Aulds Funeral Home, of Electra with Clark Jones, Pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Oklaunion, officiating . Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Aulds Funeral of Electra.

Winford was born April 12, 1933 in Clyde, Texas to the late Homer Lee Shelnutt and Bertie Aurelia Mae Cook Shelnutt.

He married Sue Rye on May 25, 1973 at Hillside Baptist Church of Electra. She preceded him in death on December 11, 2016.

Winford graduated from Electra High School in 1950 and was a lifelong resident of Electra.  Winford was an owner-operator in the oil and gas business throughout his life.  He was a dedicated family man who believed strongly in the family connection, especially family reunions and holidays.  Winford would do anything for anyone he thought needed it and believed in the importance of a handshake.  He never met a stranger, visiting with people everywhere he went.  Winford was an avid Electra Tigers fan, always following his kids and grandchildren closely.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Phipps and husband, Jack of Iowa Park, Charlotte McCloud and husband, Lee of Wichita Falls, and Carla Cooper and husband, Barnard of Electra; two sons, Lyndol Shelnutt and wife, Carisa of Electra and Eddie Campbell of Wichita Falls; two brothers, Glyn Shelnutt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Hershel Shelnutt of Electra; two sisters, Vivion Henderson of Lawton, Oklahoma and Alpheus Boston of Electra; twenty-two grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
