Archer City
Wayne Cox, age 78, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013, in Hospice of Wichita Falls.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2013 at Aulds Funeral Home with Jimmy Cating, Minister of Crestview Church of Christ in Wichita Falls officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Aulds Funeral Home.
Wayne was born May 2, 1935 in Harlingen, Texas to Nelson Cox and Minnie Ola Burns Cox.
He attended school in Pearl, Texas and moved to Archer City in 1961.
He and Dorothy Ann Hill were married December 27, 1989 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Wayne was the owner of Cox Construction for several years. Then he bought a truck and operated Cox Farms where he hauled alfalfa hay until his retirement in 2003. He loved coon hunting, wolf hunting and fishing. Wayne was a member of the Crestview Church of Christ in Wichita Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Archer City; two sons, Donnie Cox and James Cox and wife, DeAnn of Archer City; two daughters, Gretta Veitenheimer and husband, Robert of Windthorst; Loretta Richey of Archer City; five brothers, Kenneth Cox and wife, Rose of Hico, Billy Cox and wife, Judy of Archer City, Harold Cox of Kentucky, A P Cox and wife, Renee and Curtis Cox and wife, Susan of Waco; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Cox; one grandson, Tyler Cox; one brother, Lloyd Cox and one sister, Darlene Bahr.
Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews, Andy, Brady, Brandon, Bruce, Doug, Jason, Kenny and Ray Cox.
