Vernie Lloyd Johns, age 82, of Archer City, Texas passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025, in Wichita Falls.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Vernie was born April 29, 1943 to the late Lincoln Leo Johns and Florence Bay Johns in Hobart, Oklahoma.

He and Rhonda Faye McCrary were married October 9, 1976 in Midland, Texas.

Vernie was a devout follower of God and attended the Archer City Cowboy Church.  Vernie was a truck driver throughout his life.  He never met a stranger and loved to hug everyone.

On April 26, Vernie celebrated his 82nd birthday where all his friends and family came and showered him with love and attention.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Johns of Archer City; three daughters, Shelly Stanford and husband, Charlie of Norman, Oklahoma, Anne Wilson and husband, Rodney of Archer City, Sharon Gustovich and husband, Dave of Bluffton, South Carolina; two sons, Arron Johns of Norman, Oklahoma and David Johns and wife, Stephanie of Little Elm, Texas; three sisters and one brother; thirteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Michael; one daughter, Belinda; and one great-granddaughter, Liberty Ann.
