Vera Harrelson, age 84, of Archer City, Texas passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, in the Archer Nursing Center.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in the Archer City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Aulds Funeral Home.

Vera, one of nine children, was born May 29, 1930 in Antelope, Texas to the late James Henry Petit and Minnie Lee Ensey Petit.

She and R.J. Harrelson were married August 17, 1963 in Archer City. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1966.

Vera was a cook at the Wildcatter, Troy's Drive In, the Archer County Hospital and finally the Archer City Nursing Home for several years until her retirement. She also raised many children in Archer City.

Vera was a Baptist. She was an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 198 for many years. She loved sewing, listening to her books, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Survivors include one daughter, Gladys Lee Harrelson and one son, Craig Harrelson both of Archer City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vera was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
