Vada Jean Stone Myers, age 88, of Quanah, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Quanah with Larry Maddox officiating.  Private family graveside services were held in Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Vada was born June 9, 1936, in Quanah, Texas to the late Becton Haskell Stone and Udell Jesse Edwards Stone.

She graduated from Quanah High School.  Vada then attended Wayland Baptist University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Religious Education and minored in English.

Vada married Jack Dowling Myers.  He preceded her in death on December 8, 1972.

She worked for West Texas Utilities (WTU) as a bookkeeper for 26 years before her retirement.  After retiring, Vada was a substitute teacher in Quanah.

Vada enjoyed cross stitching and baking. She was always baking cookies to give away to others in the community.  An avid movie watcher, Vada could tell you the names of every actor in every movie. Her family still has not figured out how, but Vada could have the television on, be reading a book and working a crossword puzzle all at the same time.  She also found joy in taking many pictures, even if she had her thumb in the pictures the majority of the time.

Playing games with her family was among her favorite things to do.  Family was so important to her, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored dearly.

Vada was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Quanah where she sang in the choir, played in the hand bell choir and taught Sunday school.  She was also very involved in vacation bible school, where for many years she was known as the "Punch Lady".  No one knew exactly what was in that punch, but everyone knew not to get in the punch until it was time, as she had it all set up just right.

Survivors include three daughters, Marie Griffin and husband, Richard of Electra, Carol Jean Garrett of Van Buren, Arkansas and Leah Patrick and husband, Samuel of Odessa; one son, Richard Myers and wife, Kim of Wichita Falls; one son-in-law, Randall Garrett of Dallas; her sister, Rhoda Maddox of Lubbock; nine grandchildren, Leslie Farris and husband, Michael, Josh Griffin and wife, Brittney, Angela Williams and husband, J.C., Sammy Patrick and wife, Amy, Colin Myers, Conner Myers, Ruben Garrett, Noah Garrett and Bethany Garrett; six great grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.
