Timothy Lane "Ty" Spikes, age 66, of Archer City, Texas formerly of Huntsville, Texas, passed away Saturday morning, May 26, 2018, at his residence.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018, in the chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018, in the Benjamin Cemetery with Jeff Sedberry officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Ty was born January 3, 1952 in Colorado Spring, Colorado to the late Billy Gene Spikes and Dorothy Faye Campbell Spikes.
In 1955, he moved to Texas for a short time then moved to Eagle Nest, New Mexico where he spent the majority of his youth on the Monte Verde Ranch. He graduated from Wray Colorado High School in 1970. After graduation, he pursued work in the Feedlot Industry in various positions in Kansas to Colorado. He moved to Huntsville where he worked on Dominey Ranch until his retirement due to health problems in 2017.
Ty married Sue Miller in July 1974 in Raton, New Mexico and they became the proud parents of Blue and Tag. She preceded him in death on August 16, 2004. He married Gayle Perkins in November 2002 in Raton, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on March 30, 2012.
Survivors include two sons, Blue Spikes and wife, Liv, and Tag Spikes, all of Erie, Colorado; step-daughter, Crystal Smaltz Ginnis of Huntsville; step-son, Chad Jerald of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Rusty Spikes and wife, Janis of Archer City, Texas and Guy Spikes and wife, Donna of Seymour, Texas; one sister, Penny Eaton of Benjamin, Texas; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and good friend, Kathy Williams of Trinity, Texas.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Hospice of Wichita Falls, especially Belva and Ruth, for the love and care that they gave Ty.
