Roy Dehn Alsup, age 82, of Archer City, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in a Wichita Falls hospital.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at Aulds Funeral Home with Joe Cullen, Pastor of the First Christian Church of Archer City and Verner Hayhurst of Archer City officiating. Interment will follow in the Pioneer Cemetery in Olney under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Aulds Funeral Home.

Roy was born March 12, 1932 in Markley, Texas to Erick Earnest Alsup and Eula Ben Watson Alsup.

He and Janice Ann Groves were married March 29, 1956 in Olney, Texas.

Roy graduated from Olney High School and then received a BS in Agriculture from Midwestern University and attended Texas Tech where he received his teaching certificate. He taught Agriculture in Benjamin and Vera. He then became employed for Texas Electric Service Company for thirty-six years and retired in 1992. Roy started his favorite job of raising cattle, horses and driving his tractor.

Roy was a people person and thought the best of everyone.

He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce where he served as president; the Lion's Club and served as president, and the Junior Livestock Association. He also coached, sponsored and was a member of the Little League Association where he served as president. Roy worked with the 4-H. He also served on the Archer City Housing Authority for twenty-one years.

Roy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Olney and Archer City, then the First United Methodist Church in Archer City where he was a trustee on the Local and District Board. He finally was a member of the First Christian Church of Archer City. Roy lived his life with God in control and enjoyed each day God gave him.

Survivors include his wife, Janice of Archer City; son, Steve Alsup and wife, Tina of Olney; grandson, Shane Alsup of Archer City; four grandchildren, Kinsey Birdwell and husband, Matt of Graham, Wade Alsup and wife, Chelsey of Wichita Falls, Danial Reynolds and wife, Stephanie of Archer City, and Cole and Jesse Alsup of Olney; three great-grandchildren, Reagan, Kylie, and Easton Birdwell of Graham; one niece Georgia Alsup of Iowa Park; and one nephew, Randy Alsup and wife, Denise of Iowa Park.

Roy was preceded in death by one daughter, Shannon Ann Baldwin on March 26, 2012; one son, Roy Shawn Alsup on May 21, 2014; two granddaughters, Ayme Marie Alsup on April 9, 1991 and Peyton KateAnn Parsley on August 28, 2006; and one brother, Jimmy Alsup in 2012.
