Robert Wayne Pearce, age 74, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra with Joe Ainsworth officiating. Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Robert was born October 4, 1946 in Electra, Texas to the late Charles Edward Pearce and Mary Louise Flippin Pearce.
Robert graduated from Hamlin High School and went on to play football at Cisco Junior College and Stephen F. Austin University. He was an All American Quarterback and was inducted into the Stephen F. Austin Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. In the late sixties, Robert was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings to play professional football. He then played football seven years in the Canadian Football League.
Robert worked in the pipe and supply business before starting his own company, Pearce Equipment in Abilene, Texas. He was a volunteer coach for Texas Tech with the Track and Field Team. He went back into the oil and gas business as a Mud Engineer, where he was able to travel the country extensively. Robert was an insurance adjuster for several years and witnessed many devastations including the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina. Robert was a simple man who loved hunting and fishing, and never missed a chance to play a round of golf.
Survivors include one son, Jason Pearce and wife, Whitney of Midland; two brothers, Charlie Pearce and wife, Joyce of Dallas and Don Pearce and wife, Norma of Snyder, Texas; one sister, Linda French of Saginaw; and two grandchildren, Bailey and Rowdy Pearce.
