Richard H. Wingo, age 88, of Archer City, Texas, passed away in Wichita Falls early Tuesday morning, June 21, 2016.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Mr. Wingo was born November 27, 1927 in Archer County, Texas to the late Thomas Hollis Wingo and Goldie Buckley Wingo.
He met Mary Ellen Shidler on January 8, 1949 and married her six days later on January 14, 1949 in Henrietta, Texas. At the time of her death on February 19, 2014, they had been married for more than sixty-five years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II and had been stationed at Pearl Harbor.
He had worked as a truck driver and a trucking dispatcher throughout his life. He was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Archer City and the Ira Jones Post #198 of the American Legion.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Copeland and husband, Jimmy of Byers, Texas and Rachel Wingo of Archer City; five grandchildren, Jimmy Copeland and wife, Courtney, Becky Copeland, Travis Copeland and wife, Cheri, Kayla Copeland, and Cody Wingo; and six great-grandchildren, Kynlee Copeland, Truitt Copeland, Hayden Copeland, Harper Copeland, Harrison Copeland, and Taylor Symons.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Charlotte Wingo, one brother, Eugene Moore, one step-brother, Edwin Stuck, and a granddaughter, Shannon Copeland Sternadel Symons.
