"Big Sandy Wilbur" is gone. He passed away Monday, January 26, 2015, in Hospice of Wichita Falls at the age of 79.
Sandy was born November 8, 1935 in Dallas, Texas to Edwin Albert Wilbur and Frances Lazana Rains Wilbur.
He and Betty Lincoln were married August 5, 1960 in Electra, Texas.
He moved to Denver, Colorado in 1962 where he worked in dry goods stores. In 1974, he returned to Electra where he was a farmer and rancher. Sandy was an avid humane hunter, shooter and outdoorsman. He was a life time member of the NRA.
Sandy served on the Electra City Council. He enjoyed spending most of his time with his wife and daughter, Holly. He attended First United Methodist Church.
Sandy was a wonderful loving husband, father, friend and Christian man. He was extremely generous, kind, and a humble man who never complained. He loved his family and his friends dearly.
Sandy loved his country and especially the state of Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Electra; one daughter, Holly Lin Wilbur of Stephenville, Texas; sister-in-law, Peggy Wilbur of Dallas; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Wilbur.
The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, 1107 S. Bailey St., Electra, Texas 76360 or the Electra Volunteer Fire Department. 111 East Cleveland, Texas 76360.
The family requests that friends please take food to the First United Methodist Church for the noon meal on the day of service in lieu of the home.
