Richard F. Baughman, age 89, of Brownwood, Texas formerly of Archer City, Texas, passed away Wednesday evening, August 29, 2018, in the Brownwood Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Aulds Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Davis of Archer City officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2018, at Aulds funeral Home.
Richard was born March 18, 1929 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Michael Jefferson Baughman and Addie Velva McElvany Baughman.
He proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines and then joined the United States Navy from 1948 until 1950.
He married the love of his life Wyvon Bitner on September 7, 1950 in Archer City.
Richard worked in the oilfield for Vinson Lowack until 1961 when he became employed for the Santa Fe Railroad. He worked for the railroad for twenty eight and half years until his retirement in 1989.
He loved to hunt and fish and made custom knives. Richard was a man of many talents.
Survivors include his wife, Wyvon Baughman of Brownwood; one daughter, Vicki Davis and husband, Jeff of Elgin, Texas; four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, M.J. Baughman and Barry W. Baughman; and one son, Jerrel Rater on February 12, 2010.
