Reba Ann McAllister Madera, age 86, of Electra, Texas, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

A celebration of Reba’s life will be held at the Electra Memorial Park Pavilion at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, with Dennis Hoff, Pastor of Southside Church of Christ in Electra, officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Reba will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026 and from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra, where friends are welcome to visit Reba and sign the guest register.

She was born August 12, 1939 in Electra, Texas to the late Sebern Young McAllister and Jessie Myrtle Whisnand McAllister.

Reba attended school at Rocky Point, Thompson Ward and Eagle Bend before graduating from Electra High School with honors in 1957. While in high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society and the Electra High School Band. After high school, Reba graduated from Draughan’s Business College in Wichita Falls and began working for the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce and W.B. Hamilton.

She and Jimmy Earl Madera were married August 22, 1959 at the Southside Church of Christ in Electra.

Reba then began her employment with Roy H. Smith Drilling Company and Roger Hanks Independent Oil Producers. Reba and Jim moved to Dallas shortly after and she continued working in the oil industry with Seymour Hootkins. While living in the Dallas Area, Reba was the first president of the Dallas County Sheriff Women’s Association and was also involved in the Golden Age program at the Cedarville Church of Christ.

After relocating back to their hometown area, Reba and Jim lived for ten years in Archer City where they owned the Wildcat Car Wash and Trojan Car Wash in Windthorst. They eventually settled back in Electra in 2003 where she established an office as business manager for Hootkins Revocable Trust and Madera Oil and Gas. She retired in 2010. Retirement did not suit her just yet, and she took a tempoaray job of a few weeks at the Electra Housing Authority, where she remained for two and a half years.

Reba also became very involved with the Electra Chamber of Commerce where she served as President and as a director. She was also a member of the Electra Grand Theatre, Inc. board, the Twentieth Century Club, Texas Preceptor Omicron Theta Sorority Chapter and a member of the City of Electra’s Hotel/Motel Tax Advisory Board. She was a longtime member of the Southside Church of Christ.

She also loved a good trip across the river to visit the casinos.

Reba is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Jim Madera of the home; one nephew, Kevin McAllister and wife, Elaine; three nieces, Kim King and husband, Greg of Grapevine, Karla Rincon and husband, Robert of Wichita Falls, and Katha Shawver and husband, Curtis of Cisco; eight great-nieces and nephews; and eleven great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Roy A. McAllister.

Reba was a beloved aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt. She was always proud of each one of her “kids”. Her smile could brighten your day and her sense of humor could keep you laughing for days. We are sad to say goodbye, but we celebrate her home going to Heaven. She loved the Lord with all her heart, but she loved no one more than her husband, Jim. They were inseparable. Her legacy of love and care for family has taught us well how to treat others and is a legacy we will try our best to live up to.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Electra Hospital Foundation, Post Office Box 1112, Electra, Texas 76360.
