Ray Perez, age 85, of Electra, Texas, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra with Joe Howard Williamson officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Coker Cemetery in Bulcher, Texas under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Ray will lie in state from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

He was born October 28, 1939 in Carrizo Springs, Texas to the late Romulo Perez and Ignacia Tovias Perez.

Ray attended school in Laredo and then went on to the Hispanic Baptist Theological Seminary in San Antonio where he received his bachelor's degree.

He served his country in the Air Force where he was an involved in in-flight refueling during the Korean War.

Ray and Linda Gayle Pond were married July 18, 1977 in Tennessee.

He was an interstate truck driver and minister throughout his life.  Together, Ray and Linda owned and operated R&L Trucking for several years. He found it very rewarding to minister to people all over the country while he was driving.  Ray was also a 33rd degree Freemason.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Perez of Electra; his children, Jeremy Perez of St. Albans, Vermont, James Huggins of Appleton, Wisconsin, Jennifer Penland of Newport News, Virginia, Jolinda Dick of Wichita Falls, Veronica "Betty" Perez Neer of Carrollton, Raymond Perez, Jr.  of Carrollton, Olga Fuentes of Irving, Maria Fuentes of Farmers Branch and Reynolds Perez of Rochester, New York; one sister, Jovita Soto of McKinney; one brother, Ernesto Cardona of McKinney; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Pat.
