Ray B Dickey II, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at his residence after a year long battle with rectal cancer.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church of Electra with Rev. Bob Lee officiating. Interment will follow in New Electra Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church.
Ray was born December 1, 1942 in Electra to the late Ray B Dickey Sr. and Lois Nichols Dickey. In 1961, he graduated from Electra High School and then graduated from North Texas State University in 1965 with a BBA.
After graduation, Ray joined the family business and was a partner in Dickey, McGann and Rowe Insurance. He also was employed at Electra Federal Savings and Loan which eventually merged with Olney Savings in the late 1970's where he was the Division Manager.
Ray was an avid golfer and played all over the North Texas area. In 1968, he received his pilots license and loved to fly, owning three airplanes during his lifetime.
Ray took up writing Mystery Novels in his later years and loved creating stories. He still has five novels and one book of short stories available on Amazon.com.
Ray married Paulette Walton just out of high school and they had one son, Daryl. He then married Susie Rapp. On January 1, 2000, he married his soul mate, Carolyn "Sistie" Crenshaw.
Besides his wife, Carolyn, he leaves behind his son, Daryl Ray Dickey of Wichita Falls; sister, Cheryl Keating of Cottonwood, Arizona; niece, Lisa Keating of Oakland, California; his extended family, David Hanks and family of Electra, Trecie Bergt and family of Lockett, Carrie Roper and family of Wallisville, Texas and his favorite brother-in-law, Johnny Ray Crenshaw and wife, Janelle of Kamay.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Wichita Falls Home Health for their compassionate care of Ray over the past several months.
