Phillip Lee Curry, age 69, of Gainesville, Texas, formerly of Electra, Texas, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, at his residence.

Vigil service and rosary will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Electra.  Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Moreno and Deacon Dave Poole officiating.  Private family interment will follow at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Phil was born February 4, 1954 in Electra, Texas to the late Bobby Benson Curry and Billie Francis Whitehead Curry.

He grew up in Electra and was a 1972 graduate of Electra High School, where he was active in the band and rodeo.  After high school, Phil attended Vernon College where he was on the rodeo team.  From there, he went on to earn his nursing degree from Angelo State University.

Phil married Nora Helzlsouer on January 5, 1977 in Electra, Texas.

He loved hunting and fishing.  You could always find Phil in the kitchen cooking or watching old westerns on TV.

Survivors include his wife, Nora Curry of the home; two daughters, Angela Lipinski and husband, Chuck of Flower Mound, Texas and Melissa Stutzman and husband, Jerrod of Edmond, Oklahoma; one son, John Curry and wife, Haylie of Midland, Texas; one brother, Dub Curry and wife, Bobbie of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren, Brianna, Olivia, Connor, Abigail and Brynn; one uncle, Jim Curry and wife, Betty of Post, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one nephew, Jaron Curry.
