Philip S. Nelson, age 72, of Archer City, Texas passed away July 1, 2015 in Hospice of Wichita Falls.
A celebration of Philips's life will be held beginning at noon, Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Archer County Activity Building in Archer City with Mike Wells, Pastor of Holliday Assembly of God, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Philip was born August 12, 1942 in Ennis, Texas to Lyle Clifford Nelson and Alta Wyoma Hawley Nelson.
He and Marie Mahaffee were married July 16, 1965 in Amarillo, Texas.
Philip proudly served his country in the Navy. After his tour of duty, he spent his life as a mechanic, a trucker driver and an oilfield worker. He loved carpentry work.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Marie of Archer City; his children, Eric and Tama Nelson of Wichita Falls, Clint Nelson, Dale Blackwood and Kaylynn Bodiford, all of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Johanna Sasium of Colorado and Sharon Morton of Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, Georgia 30368-2454 or to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.
