Peggy Thompson Payton, age 87, of Electra, Texas passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, in Wichita Falls.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Aulds Funeral Home with Joe Ainsworth officiating.  Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Aulds Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in New Electra Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Peggy was born July 4, 1933 in Edgewood, Texas to the late Perry Griffen Thompson and Lois Lucille Pickens.

She and Jack Payton were married August 10, 1951 in  Electra, Texas.  He preceded her in death on December 3, 1988.

Peggy enjoyed traveling, gardening and doing for others.  Above all, she loved her family.  Peggy worked for her family business, Payton Electric until the death of her husband, Jack.

Survivors include two sons, Brian Payton and wife, Carolyn and Barry Payton all of Electra; two sisters, Jane Riddle and husband Benny of Whitesboro, Texas and Lela Warner and husband, Curtis of Electra; four grandchildren, Jennifer Gee, Brianne Rusk, Brad Payton and Dylan Payton; and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jaci Payton on January 17, 2008 and sister, Patricia Butts.
