Peggy Jo Jones Ballard, age 93, of Electra, Texas, passed from this life to the care of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in Electra, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2025, in Electra Memorial Park with Rev. Bob Lee, Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Electra, officiating. The family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church of Electra from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. after the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Peggy will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra, where friends are welcome to visit and sign the guest register.

She was born February 9, 1932, in Electra, Texas, to Charles Armand Jones and Onis Velva Carter Jones.

Peggy married Raymond Ewell Ballard on October 27, 1950, in Electra, Texas. They were blessed with two sons, William Ewell “Billy” Ballard and Mark Alan Ballard.

Peggy was a lifelong Electra area resident, having been a member of one of the original Electra Pioneer Families that came to Electra in 1907. She was raised in Punkin Center and attended the County Line School, graduated from Electra High School, and attended Draughon’s Business College in Wichita Falls. She worked as a bookkeeper and clerk for Ward Brothers Furniture in Electra for twenty years, retiring in December of 1984.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer of the Warren and Friendship Sunday School Classes. Peggy also sang in the choir, served on the Benevolence Kitchen Committee, worked on church crafts, and performed a variety of tasks for the FUMC Fall Bazaar. Following her retirement from full-time work, Peggy delivered Meals-on-Wheels for several years. She also served as an election judge and worker in countless elections for fifty years.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Raymond; her son, William “Billy”; five brothers, Melvin, Jimmy, Cleon, Charles and Howard; two sisters, Francis Tompkins and Charline Jones; a granddaughter, Brandy Ellen Ballard; and one daughter-in-law, Shelley Denise Sullivan Ballard.

Survivors include one son, Mark Ballard of Wichita Falls, Texas; one granddaughter, Mandy Huffstutler and husband, Brady of Electra, and their children, Brayden and Brysen; one grandson, Rusty Ballard and wife, Kesley of Haslet, Texas, and their children, Kassi and Kiley Ballard of Haslet; one great-great-grandson, Waylen Ballard of Haslet; one sister, Toni Jones Smith of Graham, Texas; sister-in-law, Marilyn Felty Jones of San Antonio, Texas; daughter-in-law, Margaret Ballard of Electra; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
