Patsy Jean Smith Bates, age 79, of Archer City, Texas, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 25, 2024 in Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City with Jon Curry, Pastor of Grace Community Church in Archer City, officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2024 at Aulds Funeral Home.

Patsy was born June 28, 1944 in Olney, Texas to the late August B. Smith and Nola Margaret Harris Smith.

She was a homemaker throughout her life. Patsy enjoyed gardening and pretty flowers. She loved and cared for her kids and grandkids tremendously.  Patsy attended Grace Community Church of Archer City.

Survivors include two sons, Ray Bates and wife, Donna and Gary Bates and wife, Gretchen all of Wichita Falls; one daughter, Laci Childery and husband, Lee of Strawn, Texas; nine grandchildren, Justin Bates and wife, Kaitlin, Hayden Bates and wife, Andrea, Reagan Bates and wife, Grayson, Brianne George and husband, Ethan, Garron Bates and Brooklyn, Ty Bates, Alex Childery, Caleb Pippin and Weston Childery; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her four siblings, Mary, J.B., Leroy and Odell.
