Paralea was born December 3, 1946, in Elmore City, Oklahoma to the late R.B. Dill and Mildred Dill. She married the love her life, James "Jim" S. Reed Jr., on June 20, 1964, in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Paralea spent the early years of her life working as a waitress and cook at several restaurants in Duncan. She and Jim lived in Amarillo, Texas, Hutchison, Kansas, and Denison, Texas before relocating to Wichita Falls where she worked as a manager at the Glass Kitchen. Paralea and Jim moved from Wichita Falls to Archer City in September of 1977 and made their home there. She was employed by the Hagar Corporation in Olney before going to work at the Archer City Hospital where she oversaw central supply as well as working as a surgical tech. During that time, Paralea and Jim served as Emergency Medical Technicians with the Archer City Ambulance Service. They were two of the first licensed EMTs on the ambulance service. When the hospital closed, she returned to work at Hagar's in Olney. A few years later when Hagar's closed, she began a long career as a professional housekeeper working for a number of clients. From October of 2012, Paralea was employed exclusively at the Circle A Ranch in rural Archer County until her retirement in November 2023. Paralea loved her time at the ranch working for the Allen family. Paralea was a member of First Baptist Church of Archer City where she spent many years teaching the Adult 5 Ladies Sunday School Class. All the sweet ladies of that class were near and dear to her heart. Paralea was also a prayer warrior! She enjoyed praying on Wednesday nights with Jody McDaniel, Julie Womack, and others. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Paralea also grew up in a large family with nine siblings and she loved each one of them dearly.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Jim of Archer City; her son, James Reed of Wichita Falls; and her daughter, Paula Newton and husband, Hank of Archer City. Paralea will also be missed by her grandchildren, Ryan Reed and Kelton Reed, both of Wichita Falls; Sean Newton and wife, Kelsee of Wichita Falls; Matt Newton and wife Jordan of Severance, Colorado; and Sarah Newton and boyfriend Michael of Valdosta, Georgia; as well as her two great-grandchildren, Jackson of Severance and Caroline of Valdosta. Paralea will also be missed by her brothers, Robert B. Dill III of Oklahoma, Calvin Dill of Louisiana and Walter Dill of Oklahoma; sisters, Louise Wagenseller of Oklahoma, Carol Gonzales of Archer City, Ruby Knapp of Colorado, and Faye Dill of Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Roy Allen Dill, Charles Dill, and Les Dill, and her grandson, Zachary Newton.
