O.L. "Curley" Bowden, age 85, of Electra, Texas passed away Friday, October 31, 2014, at his residence.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Kirkham officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2014, at St. Paul Catholic Church.
Curley was born September 29, 1929 in Vashti, Texas to Sebe Thomas and Mabel Jewell Harlow Bowden.
He attended Electra High School.
Curley and Barbara Trujillo were married on October 16, 1951 in Yuma, Arizona.
During the Korean Conflict, he honorably served his country in the Navy. Curley was a mail carrier from 1962 until April 1, 1988 when he retired. After his retirement, he did day work for several large ranches in New Mexico. Curley enjoyed showing horses for W.A. Krohn for many years. He was a member of the Electra Mule Riders.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bowden of Electra; two sons, Troy Bowden and wife, Cindy and Benny Bowden and wife, Carla all of Electra; one daughter, Donna Bowden of Sanger, Texas; two brothers, Wayne Bowden of Abilene, Texas, and Jake Monty Bowden and wife, Linda of Iowa Park, Texas; two sisters, Faye Jansen and husband, Lowell and Rockport, Texas and Donna Hodges and husband, Jerry of Valley View, Texas; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-three and one-half great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Jim Bowden and two sisters, Billie McAnich and Ina Jacques.
The family suggests memorials to St. Paul Catholic Church, Altar Society, 500 North Bailey, Electra, Texas 76360 or to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.
