Archer City
Myrtle Edge Trent, age 98, of Petrolia, Texas, formerly of Archer City, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014 in Henrietta, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014, in the Archer City Cemetery with Jack Stephens officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Myrtle was born November 28, 1915 in Archer City to the late Fred Elbert Edge and Gladys D. Campbell Edge.
She and Grady Trent, Sr. were married August 3, 1935 in Archer City. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1967.
Myrtle was a resident of Petrolia from 1943 until 1966 when she moved back to Archer City. After the death of her husband, she returned to Petrolia and was employed by the Petrolia Senior Citizen Center from 1981 until 1994.
Myrtle was a member of the Baptist Church and the Petrolia Order of the Eastern Star. She devoted her life to her family and was loved and cherished by all who knew her. She was always a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing many holiday dinners in her home with family and friends. Myrtle was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Trent Wilson of Petrolia; two granddaughters, Sheryl Wilson Gunstanson of Henrietta, and Shari Wilson Rodgers and husband, Steve of Petrolia; one great-granddaughters, Stevi Rodgers Eastman and husband, Jordan of Wichita Falls; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Grady "Butch" Trent, Jr. on October 9, 2010; one brother, Paul Edge on June 6, 1990; one sister, Opal Edge Byrom of August 22, 1998; one son-in-law, Loyd Wilson on June 2, 2009; and one grandson-in-law, David Gunstanson on May 13, 2014.
