Mildred Bradford Brackeen, 89, of Lubbock, Electra and Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away September 17, 2014 in Lubbock.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 09:30 a.m. at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra. Services will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Aulds Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Mildred was born December 26, 1924 in Foard County, Texas, to the late John and Jewell Bradford.
Mildred graduated from Crowell High School and Lubbock Memorial Hospital, School of Nursing—where she was a member of the Cadet Nursing Corps during World War II.
She and R.C. "Archie" Brackeen were married on July 3, 1946 in Clovis, New Mexico.He preceded her in death on October 17, 2003.
Mildred worked as a Private Duty Nurse and Nursing Supervisor at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Electra, Texas. After moving to Wichita Falls in 1970, she worked at Bethania Hospital as Nursing Supervisor until her retirement in 1987.
Survivors include her children; Randy Brackeen and wife, Ann of Lubbock, Texas, and Helen Hickman and husband, Robert of Harvest, Alabama, six grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren, sister; Retta Conway and husband, Glen, Wichita Falls, Texas; and brother; Bob Bradford, and wife, Peggy of Lindale, Texas.
