The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Mike was born October 4, 1947 in Sherman, Texas to the late Thurman Gail Bigbie and Dolly Loreta Jones Bigbie.

He was a 1965 graduate of Henrietta High School, where he was published in Who's Who for his accomplishments in math.

Mike married Dixie Joy Belford in 1969 and from this union, what he affectionately called his "first litter" of children was born.

He then married Nancy Bess Nevill on June 23, 1984 in Electra, Texas and together they had his "second litter" of children.

Mike graduated from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls.  Throughout his life he worked in computer engineering as a data programmer for PPG in Wichita Falls until his retirement after 35 years. He then worked for Thomas Pump in Electra for 13 years before retiring again.

Although he wore many hats during his career, from Food Safety Inspector, Programmer, Teacher, Calculator Salesman, and Office Manager, his favorite role was husband and father of 6.  On more than one occasion he was known to humorously say "I love you too, it is just harder sometimes."

He loved humor, especially puns. He attended the, O. Henry pun festival on a couple of occasions with is Pun-in-Law Phil.

He enjoyed square dancing with his favorite gal, making homemade ice cream and working any and every kind of puzzle. Mike enjoyed spelunking. He was a member of the North Texas Speleology Society where he explored natural caves in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Mexico. Mike was self-taught in Spanish and practiced for many years.

Mike was very active in his kids' lives from coaching, attending plays, dance and gymnastic recitals to being a Band Dad.

For 7 years, Mike and Nancy opened their home to Hotter than Hell riders, treating every one of them like family.  He made Dr Pepper ice cream for the post ride celebration, which hands down beats the current Blue Bell version.

Mike was also a long time active member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Electra. He sang in the choir and served as an Elder for many years and held the office of Secretary.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; his first litter, Christopher G. Bigbie and wife, Amy of Addison, Texas, Heather Joy Bigbie of Baird, Texas and Tiffany Joy Bigbie Wylie and husband, Phillip of Carrollton, Texas; his second litter, Alisha Michelle Rusinko and husband, Andrew of Pike Road, Alabama, Richard Ethan Bigbie and wife, Jennifer of Wichita Falls and Rachael Erin Bigbie of Electra; three grandchildren, Jordan Lynn Wylie and fiance, Casey Evans, Addison Marie Rusinko and Andrew Michael Rusinko; and his special buddy, Sammy.

He was also preceded in death by one infant brother.
