Mary Lou Veitenheimer, age 93, of Bedford, Texas, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 in Bedford.

Rosary and vigil service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Windthorst with Reverend Michael Moloney, OFS, Pastor of St. Mary's and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating.  Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Mary was born October 7, 1930 in Munday, Texas to the late Jerome Decker and Agnes Kuehler Decker.

She and Leon Joseph Veitenheimer were married November 26, 1952 in Pep, Texas.  He preceded her in death on September 10, 2018.

Mary was member of the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.  She enjoyed quilting, square dancing, embroidery work, gardening and baking.  Mary loved playing games with her grandchildren and had recently taken up working jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Grau and husband, Rick of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Lynette Scheuing and husband, Matt of Clyde Hill, Washington; four sons, Ron Veitenheimer and wife, Denise of Bedford, Mike Veitenheimer and wife, Christy of Coppell, Texas, James Veitenheimer and wife, Denise of Peoria, Arizona and Mark Veitenheimer and wife, Kristi of Windthorst, Texas; four sisters, Martha Nell Schilling of Bovina, Texas, Sister Hilary Decker of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Bernadette Rolliston of Hillsboro, West Virginia and Kathy Tilley of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers, Ray Decker of Levelland, Texas and Bob Decker of Conroe, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Bryan; one brother, Jerry Decker; one daughter-in-law, Lisa Veitenheimer and one brother-in-law, Leon Schilling.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 302 Saint Mary's Street, Windthorst, Texas 76389.
