Mary Lee Crowley Hawkins, age 101, passed from this life on earth into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on January 27, 2019 in Archer City, Texas.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Taylor of Dallas, Texas and Rev. Silvia Wang, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Archer City, officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church.

Mary Lee was born March 25, 1917 in Frisco, Texas.  Her parents, G.W. and Rena Sapp, owned one of the first businesses in Frisco at that time…Sapp's Café.  She graduated from Frisco High School and attended NTST College in Denton which is now the University of North Texas.  She received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1937 and her Master's Degree in 1938 at the age of twenty-one.  She began her teaching experience in Archer City, Texas in 1939 as a business teacher.  In 1941, she met a hometown farmer named Chester Crowley.  They married February 20, 1942 and raised a family of four children…Linda Sue, Judy Ann, Jim Bob and Bill Ed.  She took off thirteen years from teaching to stay at home with the children and returned to teach an additional twenty-four years making twenty-six in all.

At the age of fifty, she took up the game of golf and was an avid golfer until the age of ninety-seven.

She lost her dear husband of thirty-four years in 1975.  In 1977, she married Jim Hawkins.  They enjoyed thirteen years together before his death in 1989.  She was blessed to be able to live in her own home until the age of ninety-seven, and then continued to be blessed with the gift of wonderful friends in her lovely new home at the Royal Estates in Wichita Falls.  She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, 42, Wii bowling, and various other activities and events.

Mary Lee has been a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church since 1939.  She jokingly said she served in every capacity except the janitor and the preacher.  She was a charter member of the church's women's club called "The Golden Girls".  She also was a member of the Ladies' Golf Association and the Archer City Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

Her daughter, Linda Sue and husband, Doyle Wells preceded her in death in 2003.  Her grandson, Charles Crowley preceded her in death in 2014.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Stewart and husband, Mike; her sons, Jim Bob and wife, Carol and Bill Ed and wife, Tami; step-son, James Hawkins and wife, Cheryl of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; and thirteen grandchildren, Jess Stewart and wife, Shay, Julie Harmon and husband Doug, Josh Stewart and wife, Sarah, Jason Stewart and Jori, Cody Wells and wife, Dorothy, Shelley Peterson and husband, Kent, Casey Wells and wife, Courtney, Vicki Ostermann and husband, Klint, Vanessa Crowley, Christy Johnson and husband, Chad, Chad Crowley and wife, Kayla and Carrie Pawloski and husband, Bernie.

She was blessed with twenty-four great-grandchildren, Jacey Harmon, Katie Stewart, Wes Hupp, Lydia Harmon, Lilly, Liam, and Mia Sue Stewart, Hannah and Noah Leverton, Nolan and Luke Wells, Jack Wells, Payton, Morgan and Olivia Ostermann, Sarah Beth and Ryan Johnson, Gabby, Hannah, and Izzy Crowley, Parker, Pierce, Ana and Caitlin Pawloski, with her first great-great-grandchild on the way, baby Bridges.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chad Crowley, Jason, Jess and Josh Stewart, and Casey and Cody Wells.  Honorary pallbearers will be Chance and Doug Harmon, Chad Johnson and Bernie Pawloski.
