Marvin Joseph Hoff, age 94, passed away on Saturday morning, August 12, 2023, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will be held at a later date.  Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Marvin was born at home on November 18, 1928 in Windthorst, Texas to the late Pauline Zotz Hoff and Ernest Hoff.  His younger years were spent going to school (which he hated), milking cows by hand, hauling hay, and picking cotton.  His mother was known to say he was always getting in trouble along with his three brothers, but as the oldest he seemed to be the leader of the pack.

As a teenager, his dream was to own a Model T.  He might have forgotten his prayers at times but EVERY First Friday, he would p0ray for the Model T.  Marvin found out that God does answer prayers and he finally was the proud owner of that Model T.  He must have forgotten to keep praying though because that Model T didn't last as long as it took to pray for it!!!

Marvin and Elsie Berend were married April 17, 1948 and just celebrated seventy-five beautiful years together.  Marvin drove a milk truck, picking up milk in cans and hauling to processing plants for several years; then was supervisor for Bridwell Oil Company for thirty-three years until his retirement.  Retirement for Marvin is what lots of people would consider work.  Every year he had a huge garden, had a freezer full of fresh catfish he caught and cleaned and had family and friends over for his famous fish fries.  He raised cattle and was an oil producer.

Marvin loved family get-togethers and teaching his grandkids how to hunt and fish.  He and Elsie's home was always a fun and welcoming place.  His kids, grandkids and all their friends were always welcome, either at their lake place or their home.  Even donkeys were welcome!!!  Picture Marvin riding a donkey coming thru the front door, all the way thru the house, out the back door and down the steps!!!  That donkey bucked everyone who got on it, but I think he was in shock to go in the house, he didn't know what to do.  And ELSIE, whoa we won't even go there.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie of Rolling Meadows in Wichita Falls; one son, Gary Hoff and wife, Kathy Roberts Hoff; two daughters, Jennifer Lindemann and husband, Doug and Paulette Schreiber and husband, Pat; thirteen grandchildren, Stephanie Pickel, Brent Hoff and Cindy, Tracey Hoff and Natalie, Sean Hoff and Sarah, Chad Hoff, Mindy Hoff and Melanie McMahill, Shane Lindemann and Sara, Douglas Lindemann and Jody, Tanya and Sean Choate, Leah and Jeremy Thompson, Carrie and John Carment, and Patrick Schreiber and Dana; thirty great grandchildren, Jessie, Robyn, Coy, Brenae, Clay, Tyler, Emily, Brayden, Catherine, Meredith, Ashlynn, MacKenley, Garrett, Gracelyn, Gabriella, Makayla, Makenzie, Hunter, Jon, Briar, Laiken, Lex, Emma, Owen, Megan, James, Heidi, Wes, Ben and Max; his brother, Ernie Hoff and wife, Billie; sisters-in-law, Ida Hoff, Angie Berend and Ann Berend; and in-laws, Laura and James Spencer.  He was also loved by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great-nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his son, Marvin "Frosty" Hoff and his wife, Debbie Moer Hoff; granddaughter, Kristen Hoff; brothers, George, Al "Toddy" and Cathy Hoff, his in-laws, Lillian and Arnold Lindeman, Mary and Delphy Poirot, Gus and Nellie Berend, Adam and Mazie Berend, Betty and Floyd Humpert; brothers-in-law, Bill Berend and Andy Berend.

The family would like to thank the nurses and Dr. Parkey at Healing Hands Home Health; Hospice of Wichita Falls nurses, doctors, and volunteers; and Rolling Meadows nurses, Dr. Taubert and all the staff.  Every one of these people are angels on earth.  The care and love our Dad received plus ourselves during this time was unbelievable.
