Archer City
Marty Legate, age 63, of Archer City, Texas passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Aulds Funeral Home with Roger Deerinwater, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Archer City, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home
Marty was born on September 9, 1949 in East Alton, Illinois to Walter Floyd Legate and Shirley Gentry Legate.
He graduated from high school in Bethalto, Illinois and then proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He received his Masters Degree from UTEP and then worked for the Texas USDA
as a Soil Conservation Agent for over 30 years.
Marty had been the official photographer for all of his children's activities. He had the gift of gab and knew no stranger. He became friends with everyone he ever met.
Survivors include one daughter, Tammy Lane of Austin, Texas; one son, James K. Legate of Grand Junction, Colorado; his mother, Shirley Easterling and husband, Frank of Greensboro, North Carolina; one sister, Kathleen Jones and husband, Jon of Malone, Florida; one brother, Thomas G. Legate and wife, Joy of Edmond, Oklahoma; and a granddaughter, Lylah Lane of Austin.
