Maria Carcano, 85, joined her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 9, 2023 surrounded by her children and grandchildren at her side.

Rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Windthorst.  Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 10:0 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Reverend Michael Moloney, OFS, Pastor of St. Mary's and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Maria was born on November 18, 1937 to Andres and Lorenza Rodriguez in Mission, Texas.  She married the love of her life, Luis Carcano on April 13, 1958.  She was a loving housewife caring for their children before relocating to Archer City in 1964.  Once in Archer City, she worked as a housekeeper and Nurse Aide until they moved to Windthorst, Texas.  With business partner, Henry Ostermann, Maria and Luis opened Windthorst Fine Meats  and later they became owners of the business.  Maria continued to operate the business for 38 years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Fabian and Jose Rodriguez, sister, Conception Castellano and grandson, Jose Luis Carcano III.

Maria was active in her communities and while residing in Archer City, she was a member of the Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.  She was active in her church community and served as a Eucharistic Minister, Communion Minister to the Sick and Lay Minister.  She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of American and the Christian Mother's Society.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda and husband, Mustapha of Dallas; sons, Luis Jr and wife KC of Killeen, Jaime of Wichita Falls and David of Killeen, five grandchildren, David Cynthia, Analicia, Christopher and Lauren.  Six great grandchildren, Ilan, Jackson, Emilia, Lincoln, Noah and Olivia and her grand dog and constant companion, Fancy and one brother, Luis Rodriguez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, David and Christopher Carcano, nephews, Joe and Marco Rodriguez, Robert Ojeda and Arnold Vielmas.

The family would particularly like to extend it love and thanks to Dr. Janice Knebl of UNT Health Science Center of Ft. Worth and Dr. Samer Nachawati of Mesquite for all their loving care.
