Margie Ann McGann Swenson, age 92, of Electra, Texas, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Sunday night, March 8, 2026, an hour shy of her ninety-third birthday.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Electra, with Rev. Duane Perkinson, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Byers, and Joe Ainsworth of Electra, officiating. Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Margie was born March 9, 1933 in Petrolia, Texas, to the late John McGann and Katie Ollie C Taylor McGann. She grew up in Petrolia where she graduated from high school in 1950.
She and M.R. “Swede” Swenson were married July 23, 1953 in Petrolia, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1981.
Margie worked as the manager of the Electra Chamber of Commerce for several years before becoming secretary of First Baptist Church of Electra. She then became the administrative assistant at Central Baptist Church where she retired after thirty years.
She was a member of the Electra High School Band Booster Club, serving as President, and also the Electra High School Football Booster Club. Margie was always willing to volunteer her time. She was a member of the Electra Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Margie had a passion for serving in the church, teaching the ladies Sunday school class and the young adults and was also involved with the youth. She was very involved in the Sonshiners Group at Central Baptist Church for many years.
Margie had one main hobby throughout her life. That hobby included watching every ball game and track meet possible that her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved in. She even followed her family members who are coaches, making the majority of their games as well. Margie had a love for her family that was infectious and this is one of the ways she showed that. She also enjoyed sewing and cooking, making the best Mac and Cheese.
Survivors include two daughters, Selma Lee and husband, Parry of Abilene and Beverlene Combest of Electra; two sons, Arlee Swenson and wife, Rhonda and Scott Swenson and wife, Kayla, all of Electra; two daughters-in-law, Deanna Swenson and husband, Kevin Brown of Iowa Park and Sandy Boggeman Crawford of Henrietta; twelve grandchildren, Cammie Heflin and husband, Brian, Courtney Thompson, Michael Swenson and wife, Brandi, Bryan Swenson and wife, Meagan, Justin Swenson and wife, Karter, Westyn Swenson and wife, Magye, Riley Swenson and wife, Kelli, Blake Swenson and wife, Kali, Lacey Buckmaster and husband, Matt, Tory Ponder, Ty Boggeman and Joe Mac Boggeman; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
Margie was also preceded in death by two sons, Mike Swenson and Tony Boggeman; one son-in-law, Bob Combest; and two great-granddaughters, Rhyder Justis Swenson and Ally Grace Swenson.
