Archer City, Mada Riggins

Mada Riggins, age 81, of Archer City, Texas passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Aulds Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Aulds Funeral Home.

Mada was born June 10, 1932 in Grapevine, Texas to Jack Downs and Beulah Frances Parvin Downs.

She graduated from Electra High School in 1950.

She met Doyle Riggins in Megargel at the phone company and they were married September 8, 1951 in Olney, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2004.

Mada worked in a dress shop keeping crickets off the clothes. She then worked at the Olney Nursing Home and the Archer City Nursing Home for eight years.

She loved to TAT, work crossword puzzles and especially loved bossing people around.

Survivors include one son, Doyle Riggins, Jr. and wife, Anna of Albany, Kentucky; two daughters, Pam Bates and Theresa Carcano and husband, David of Archer City; two brothers, Loy Downs of Newcastle, Wyoming and Michael Downs of Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Klien and Mattie Riggins; and three brothers, J.B. Downs, Roy Downs and Pat Downs.
