Lona Lewis passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the age of 104, at home after a brief illness. She was surrounded by family.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, Archer City with Roger Deerinwater, officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at Aulds Funeral Home in Archer City.

She was born February 24, 1911 to Kelly and Love Seal Farris in Seymour, Texas. She married Newt E Lewis on March 11, 1928 in Seymour, but they made their home in Archer City where they raised two sons, Bob E. Lewis and Jim E. Lewis. Newt preceded her in death on March 25, 1978. Bob also preceded her on April 24, 2001 and Jim on April 29, 2005.

She worked as a nurse's aide at the Archer City Nursing Home and the Archer County Hospital for several years, but most of her time was devoted to her large extended family.

She is survived by her two daughters-in-law, Wanda Lewis of Melissa, Texas and Gail Lewis of Sherman, Texas. She has five grandchildren, Lisa and husband, Roger Messenger, Charles Lewis, Tim and wife, Darla Lewis, K and husband, Jeff Smith, and Jim and wife, Karen Lewis. She has thirteen great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. She also considered the whole community of Archer City as part of her family and we are grateful that the community considered her part of their family, too.
