Lionel "Bill" Baird, age 79, of Randlett, Oklahoma, formerly of Archer City, Texas, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023, in Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 14, 2023, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wichita Falls with Pastor Dale Snyder officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Bill was born July 6, 1944 in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Rolla Clark Baird and Velta Gibson Baird.  Bill grew up in the Hillsboro Community in Fleming County, Kentucky where he attended grade school in Hillsboro and high school in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.

After graduation, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and worked as a truck driver.  Later he worked for Detroit Diesel Allison and Chevrolet. Bill moved to Archer City and then to Randlett, Oklahoma.  In 1975, he started working for PPG Industries until his retirement in 2008 after working for thirty-two and one-half years.

Bill married Eula Faye Buerger who preceded him in death on September 17, 1981. Bill married Carolyn Sills on June 21, 1991 in Randlett.  Bill loved to travel with his favorite place being Montana.  Bill was a volunteer firefighter for forty years.  He held several positions including chief, assistant chief and secretary treasurer.  He also was an in house instructor for several different courses.

He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wichita Falls where he served as usher and greeter.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of Randlett, Oklahoma; one son, James Allen Baird and wife, Lisa of Okeechobee, Florida; one daughter, Dawn Michelle Baird of Brownsburg, Indiana; two step-daughters, Renee Tidwell and husband, Steve of Wichita Falls and Karen Cummings and fiance, Manual  of Abilene; step-son, Randy Reinke of Clovis, New Mexico; grandchildren, Katie Cox and husband, Josh, Alyssa Myers and husband, Dakota, Emma Baird, Tyler Baird, Bailee Peterson, Travis Elliott, Nick Hutchins, Caitlan Nichols and husband, Joey, Haylie Bell and wife, Sade Kobie Bell and wife, Roxy, Candyce Cummings, and Brooke Reinke, Connor Jiminez and Nevaeh Jiminez; nineteen great-grandchildren; and his fur baby, Doxie.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Frances Lynn Rice; and one grandson, Dynver Bell.
