IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linnie Mae
Hudson
March 18, 1933 – September 8, 2024
Linnie Mae Hudson, a beloved figure in Archer City, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024, at the age of 91. Born in Bomarton, Texas, on March 18, 1933, to Jewel Mae Walker and Doc Austin Chamberlain, Linnie Mae touched the lives of many through her kind heart, love for her community, and famous pound cake.
She married the love of her life, J.P. "Pete" Hudson on January 9, 1950 in Henrietta, Texas. He preceded her in death on January 4, 2002.
Linnie Mae was a devoted member of the Archer City community, where she became known as the town's most passionate Archer City Wildcat fan. Whether cheering from the stands, receiving the prestigious Wildcat Fan of the Year award, or holding her reserved parking spot at Wildcat Stadium, Linnie Mae's love for the Wildcats and Ladycats was unmatched. Her loyalty and support for the local sports teams left a lasting mark on the community, which loved and cared for her just as deeply.
Her generous spirit was reflected not only in her dedication to Archer City but also in her acts of hospitality. Linnie Mae's pound cake became legendary, especially after raising $10,000 at a local charity auction. Baking became her way of comforting those around her, a tradition she began after losing her beloved daughter. Through each cake, she spread warmth and love, reminding everyone of the importance of kindness during hard times.
Linnie Mae's legendary pound cake gained recognition beyond Archer City when it was featured as a highlighted recipe in Chip and Joanna Gaines' cookbook, *Magnolia Table Volume 2*. Known for its perfect balance of moist texture and just the right amount of sweetness, the recipe became a cherished favorite for readers across the country, further cementing Linnie Mae's legacy as a baker whose simple, heartfelt creation brought joy to countless people.
In addition to her love for baking and sports, Linnie Mae had a passion for travel. She enjoyed exploring new places and meeting new people, always bringing back stories that further enriched her community connections. She also dedicated much of her time to service, volunteering actively at the Archer Service Center, where she served on the board for many years.
Linnie Mae endured the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Pete, her daughters, Belinda and Jody, her grandson, Johno and her granddaughter, Michelle but her deep faith and commitment to Jesus helped her find peace. Her strong religious beliefs brought her comfort, knowing that she would one day reunite with her loved ones in heaven. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and the Women of Faith Sunday School Class.
Her warmth, faith, and generosity made her a cornerstone of Archer City, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
