Mack Howell, age 76, lifelong resident of Archer City, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Wednesday afternoon, April 5, 2023, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Grace Community Church with Pastor Jon Curry officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Mack was born July 15, 1946 in Archer City to the late Chester Theodore Howell and Dora Frances Canada Howell. He graduated from Archer City High School.

He married the love of his life, Linda Kaye Owen on September 27, 1963 in Archer City.

Mack started working at the age of ten for his uncles on the wheat harvest. When he was seventeen, he joined the Army on August 28, 1963. He was stationed in Louisiana, Colorado, Korea and Arkansas. He was on the DMZ line in Korea which qualified him as a Veteran of Foreign Wars. After his tour of duty, he returned to Archer City. He worked in a lumber yard, a feed store and a butcher shop before starting his career in the oilfield. He worked on rod and machines and drilling rigs then became a contract pumper where he stayed until the oilfield got so bad that everyone started pumping their own leases. He then went to work at Walmart as a butcher where he worked until his retirement in March 2008.

After, Mack's retirement he just enjoyed his church, Grace Community Church of Archer City, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all of his animals. He loved hunting and fishing until the Lord took him home.

Those that will miss him deeply include his wife, Linda of Archer City; two sons, Macky Howell of Lebanon, Missouri and Gary Joe Howell and wife, Ann of Archer City; daughter, Lisa Howell and fiancé, Toby Watson of Archer City; sister, Barbara Dumas of Wichita Falls; ten grandchildren, Jake Howell and wife, Kelli, Josh Howell and wife, Danielle, Kati Howell and boyfriend, Bobby McNair, Lucas Howell all of Archer City, Zach Howell and wife, Jayme, Jarred Howell and wife, Ruth, Quenton Howell and wife, Keitra all of Lebanon, Missouri, Jesica Duren and husband, Jason of Mesa, Arizona, Ty Kinnaman and Brady Kinnaman both of Archer City; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
