Les Coates, age 85, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022 at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Archer City with Chad Stubblefield officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Les was born September 19, 1936 in Boggy Depot, Oklahoma to the late Ernest Dwight Coates and Donnie Mae Maise Coates.

He has been a resident of Texas since 1969.

Les owned and operated his own concrete construction business, Double C Concrete, in Wichita Falls throughout his life.  He love spending time in the outdoors.  Les was an avid hunter and loved working with any type of hunting dog.  He was a man of few words, but could easily convey his feelings through his hands and actions.  Les was very involved in his grandchildren's lives and never missed their school activities.  He very much loved playing cards with friends and family.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Coates of Wichita Falls; six children, Bart Coates and Bret Coates and wife, Jeannie, both of La Junta, Colorado; Leslie Schauvlige and husband, Kenny of Grove, Colorado; Renee Doyle and husband, Danny of Derby, Kansas; Bud Coates and wife, Shanan of Archer City and Lonnie Coates and Frank Santoro of Southampton, New York; one brother, Dwight Coates and wife, Nancy of Atoka, Oklahoma; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
