Leonard G. Schenk, age 94, of Scotland, Texas passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020, in Wichita Falls.

Rosary and vigil service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2020, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scotland immediately followed by the Mass with Rev. Michael Moloney, Pastor of  St. Mary's and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow in St Boniface Cemetery in Scotland under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Leonard was born August 14, 1926 in Scotland, Texas to the late John Garrett Schenk and Lucille Moer Schenk.

At the age of seventeen, Leonard volunteered for the United States Navy..  He honorably served his country during World War II.

After his tour of duty, he married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Vera Ann Hoffman on September 2, 1946 in Scotland.  To this union were born Leonard Jr., Louise Sharon and a stillborn baby boy.

Leonard helped incorporate the Water System for the town of Scotland.  He was very active in his community and also his church.  He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus where he held many offices. Leonard helped organize the Scotland Windthorst VFW Post # 2676 and was their first Commander and also held other positions including District VFW Commander.

Leonard loved baseball and coached boys from grade school until past college age. He enjoyed playing softball and played until his late 50's which made it possible for he and his son, Leonard Jr., to play on the same team. Leonard was recognized on the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Leonard followed his sons and grandkids in all their sports activities as long as he was able.  He liked to fish with his daughter and grandkids. He and Vera Ann loved to travel.  They visited relative all over the United States and were with a tour group that went to Alaska and Hawaii.  He also went with a group of World War II Veterans to Washington D.C. to view the monument. He and Vera Ann loved to dance especially the Polka.

Leonard served as an Archer County Commissioner for twelve years.

Survivors include his wife Vera Ann; son, Leonard Schenk, Jr. and wife, Donna; brother, Cletus Schenk and wife, Linda, two sisters, JoAnn Klein and Patsy Scheffe and husband, Bobby; sister-in-law, Darlene Schenk; three granddaughters, Shelbie Belz and husband, Greg, Stacie Watson and husband, Ricky and Kristy Bowen, and husband, Donnie; two grandsons, Kevin Conrady and David Conrady and eight great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by daughter, Louise and husband, Leslie Conrady; daughter-in-law, Gail Schenk; grandson, Monte Schenk; sisters, Catherine Hoff, and Lillian Webster; and brothers, Vincent, J.O.,  Roy Lee.

The family suggests memorials to the Monte Schenk Scholarship C/O/ Windthorst School, 100 Saint Mary's Dr, Windthorst, TX 76389..
