Leo J. Harrelson, age 85, of Archer City, Texas, passed away Saturday evening, August 8, 2015, at the Hospice Center of Wichita Falls, Texas.
A celebration of Leo's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Aulds Funeral home of Archer City with his sons Phil and Mark, officiating. A private cremation service with inurnment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery.
Mr. Harrelson was born on November 30, 1929 in Washita County, Oklahoma to Everett Jerome Harrelson and Gladys Huey Harrelson. He and Barbara Rowe were married on July 17, 1951 in Dill City, Oklahoma and then moved to Archer City later that year.
He had worked in the oilfield throughout most of his life and he retired from Burns Operating in 1995. He then became an independent oilfield pumper until 2000.
He generously donated his time to numerous charitable organizations including the Archer Senior Citizens Center where he also helped deliver meals on wheels, and to the Archer County Rodeo. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Archer City and he was also an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of the home; one daughter, Patricia Custer and husband Bobby of Waco, Texas; three sons, Phil and wife Sheriee of Katy, Texas, Mark and wife Donna of Van Buren, Arkansas, and Wayne and wife Kay of Weatherford, Texas; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Raymond, Junior, and Clifton and two sisters, Earlene Kile and Darlene Haehn, all of Archer City.
