Lee Roy Hooker, age 87, of Archer City, Texas passed away Thursday morning, December 4, 2014, at the Archer City Nursing Center.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro, Texas with Rev. Jon Curry, pastor of Grace Community Church in Archer City, officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Mr. Hooker was born on June 19, 1927 in Hill County, Texas to the late Roy Hooker and Goldie Foster Hooker. After graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and had reached the rank of Corporal by the end of the war. He had worked in the oilfield throughout his life and was employed as a field gauger by Arco Pipeline Company for more than thirty-eight years. He had been a resident of Archer City since 1975 and was a faithful member of Grace Community Church where he had served as a Board Member.
He and Christine Ross were married August 18, 1950 in Waurika, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on April 20, 1988.
Survivors include his son David Hooker of Abilene, Texas; his sister Doris Lewis of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his daughter, Gayla Hooker Skelton; two sisters, Mozelle Hackney and Bernice Bates; and his brother Jerry Hooker.
