Laverne Luig, age 95, of Archer City, Texas passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, in Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Archer City Church of Christ with Pastor Dan Reddick officiating.  Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 4, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Archer City Church of Christ.

Laverne was born August 1, 1929 in College Station to the late Carmie Hale Wilhoit and Clyde Willard Wilhoit. She moved to Archer City at a very young age and graduated with honors as Salutatorian of her Senior class of 1946.  She married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Charles Luig.  He preceded her in death on May 17, 1953.

Laverne worked several years for Harvey and Russell Law Office. She then was employed by the Archer County Clerk's Office and then for TXU until her retirement in 1990.   Her favorite job was planting and working in her garden. She supplied many family members and friends with the fruits of her labor. Her favorite hobbies were fishing, cross word puzzles, playing cards and dominoes. She enjoyed sewing for the girls and making quilts.  She loved her church family and was a very active member of the Archer City Church of Christ.

Laverne remained in Archer City until the age of 92 when she moved to Advanced Rehabilitation of Wichita Falls.

She will be missed by her loving family; daughters, Shirley Babbitt and husband, Larry, Lynda Petty and husband, Don, Raylette Partridge and husband, Ken, Janis Hanselman, Karen West and husband, Randy, Jennifer Miller; sons, Charles Luig and wife, Debbie and Danny Luig and wife, Hollie; and sister, Frances Paul.

Laverne was blessed with thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Wilhoit and Gary Wilhoit; and her sisters, Geraldine Gressett, Marlene Scarbrough and Faye Harper.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, JJ Butler, Lee Partridge, Ryan Luig, Garrett Luig, Laramie West, Landon West, Daniel Petty, and Danny Luig.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, P O Box 4804, Wichita Falls Texas 76308-0804. She thought of the Hospice nurses as such a blessing and was extremely thankful for the nursing staff and care she received at Advanced Rehabilitation and Healthcare of Wichita Falls and the wonderful friends she made there.
