Lavell Keener, age 81, of Scotland, Texas passed away Thursday morning, March 4, 2021, in Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2021, at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City with Norm Duncan officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Lavell, one of thirteen children, was born May 5, 1939 in Ada, Oklahoma to the late Julius Henry Houchen and Adell Reed Houchen.  She graduated from Ada High School.

Lavell married Doyle Keener on April 21, 1958 in McPherson, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2010.

Lavell had served as the Postmaster of Scotland for over thirty years.  Therefore, she knew everyone from Scotland by their walk or their voice even when she was back in her office when they entered the Post Office.

She was a member of Scotland Baptist Church and also the Catholic Life Association. Lavell enjoyed fishing, camping and going to the deer lease in Bryson.  Some of the fondest memories were at the deer lease.  Lavell loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Keener of Scotland, and Carl Keener of Holliday; five grandchildren, Amanda Reeves and husband, Chris of Archer City, Justin Keener and wife, Mandy of Windthorst, Rashell Symank and husband, Chris of Brownfield, Shelby Foster and husband, Brent of Bowie, and Racheal Keener and boyfriend, Atlas Boucher of Electra; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lavell was also preceded in death by two brothers and ten sisters.
