Laura Jean Elledge, age 66, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021, in Oklahoma City.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2021, at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City with Roger Deerinwater officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Laura was born January 7, 1955 in San Francisco, California to the late Samuel Hathaway and Kathy Nolan Hathaway. She was raised on a farm in Ottumwa, Iowa by her grandparents, John and Irene Hathaway and graduated from Ottumwa High School.
She married Richard Lee Collett, Jr. in 1973 and became a military wife. Together they had three children, Rebecca, Laura and Sara. Due to the Air Force, they moved to Wichita Falls, Texas and later divorced. Laura then married the love of her life, Slim Elledge, on November 4, 1982 in Walters, Oklahoma. They had one daughter, Hope. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2014.
Laura and Slim owned and operated E & E Pest Control for several years. In 1987, they moved to Oklahoma City where she worked for Mary's Maid Service for over thirty years.
Laura loved shopping, cooking, crafting and keeping her family together for all holidays. She also loved her cat, Smitty. Laura volunteered for over ten years at the Free to Live Animal Sanctuary.
Survivors include, four daughters, Rebecca Collett, Laura Collet, Sara Wilder and Hope Elledge all of Oklahoma City; sisters, Lee Ann Glade and husband, Bob of Batavia, Iowa and Elizabeth Hathaway of Pleasant Valley, Iowa; brothers, Michael Hathaway of Des Moines, Iowa, Jonathan Hathaway and wife, Carol of Boone, Iowa, Sam Hathaway and wife, Michelle of Des Moines, Iowa, and Gabriel Hathaway of Ottumwa, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Carly Hemphill and husband, Lance, Ajia Collette, Faith Jones, Allen Gentile, Isaac Lyons, Anaya White, Michael Hunter, Brad Clayborn and Crystal Cloyd; and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Irene Hathaway; daughter, Rhonda Barney and grandson, Tyrik White.
The family suggests memorials to Free to Live Animal Sanctuary, 9150 South Western Avenue, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.
