November 10, 1943 – July 30, 2024
Larry Leon McAlister, age 80, of Electra, Texas, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in Hospice of Wichita Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church of Electra with Rev. Bob Lee, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Larry was born November 10, 1943, in Electra, Texas to the late William Harrison(W.H.) McAlister and Gynal Louise Campbell McAlister.
He was a 1962 graduate of Electra High School.
Larry and his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Linda Lois Fritsche, were married December 29, 1962 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harrold, Texas. They were married for over sixty years before her passing on February 23, 2023.
He was a farmer and rancher throughout his life. Larry raised his family on the farm and taught them the values of hard work and dedication. He was very much a family man and could always be found watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the various events they were involved in.
Larry was a man of few words often times and very soft spoken, but if he said something, you had better be listening because whatever he said was usually full of immeasurable wisdom. He was extremely quick witted and always up for exchanging a good joke or talking politics with anyone who was willing. Larry also loved a good game of 42.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth McAlister and wife, Diane of Electra and Robert McAlister and wife, Laurie of Iowa Park; one daughter, Carla Bowden and husband, Benny of Iowa Park; four brothers, Terry McAlister and wife, Pat of Electra, Albert McAlister and wife, Sue of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Harry McAlister and wife, Barbara of Electra and Amos McAlister and wife, Barbara of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Annell McAlister of Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special family nurse, Jennifer Canafax of Iowa Park.
Larry was also preceded in death by one sister, Glenda Louise McAlister; one brother, Raymond McAlister; and one grandson, Zachary Leon McAlister.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.
