Kay Kirby Balthrop, born July 19, 1945 in Dallas, Texas, went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 30, 2021.
The services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2021,at First Baptist Church, of Electra officiated by Ryan Vanderland, Pastor. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
A small reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
Kay married the love of her life, Steve Balthrop, on August 12, 1966 in Denton, Texas and celebrated 54 years of marriage.
She attended North Texas State University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics. Kay began her teaching career in Aubrey, Texas before growing roots in Electra and retiring after more than 35 years of teaching. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for 40 years, spent her Sunday mornings teaching Sunday School and volunteering for Electra ISD after her retirement. Her passions include directing One Act Plays for the Electra school system, equestrian activities and cooking for her church and community.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Balthrop;, daughter, Kerri Haigood of San Antonio; son, Steven Balthrop and wife, Christine Balthrop of San Antonio; Grandchildren, Alyssa Haigood of Frisco, Texas Heath Haigood of Fort Worth, Texas, River Balthrop and Dawson Balthrop.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Kay Balthrop Scholarship Fund at Waggoner National Bank P.O. Box 1152, Electra, Texas 76360.
