Laquetta Joye Burleson Turner, age 91, of Electra, Texas, passed away Wednesday morning, June 5, 2024 in Burkburnett, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Joye was born December 6, 1932 to the late Leonard Newton Burleson and Lillie Lee Bennett Burleson in Rochester, Texas.
She worked for the City of Fort Worth as a dispatcher, retiring with over twenty years of service.
Joye loved gardening, sweets, root beer floats and country music, especially Hank Thompson and the King of Country, Mr. George Strait. She was always a friend to everyone she met and always believed in helping others, even total strangers. Joye always said if you didn't help and let someone do something bad, then you had a tiger by the tail to deal with.
Survivors include one grandson, Christopher Turner of Fort Worth; one daughter-in-law, Pamela Turner of Fort Worth; one sister, Sue Wyatt of Electra; two nieces, Ashley Houska and husband, Brad of Vernon and Kimberly Wyatt of Electra; two nephews, Jay Wyatt of Electra and DJ Wyatt and wife, Cari of Weatherford, Texas; and her two special cousins, Cindy Robinson and Delores McDuff.
She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Don Turner and Mike Turner; two brothers, Dick Burleson and Winchell Burleson; and one sister, Juanell Strickland.
The family suggests memorials to Meals on Wheels of Electra, 503 West Michigan Ave., Electra, Texas 76360.
