Joyce Simmons Ostermann of Windthorst, Texas, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Vigil service and rosary will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2020, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Windthorst followed by Mass celebrated with Rev. Michael Moloney, Pastor of  St. Mary's and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

She was born in Lake Worth, Florida on January 13, 1931, to the late Jonathan and Grace (Boswell) Simmons, the third of their nine children.  She proudly graduated as Valedictorian in 1948 from Windthorst High School.

She married Henry Ostermann on February 24, 1949, and they raised six children.  He preceded her in death on November 27, 2009.

Joyce was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a 50 year member of the Christian Mothers' Society.  She enjoyed supporting her family at their activities and was an avid fan of all Windthorst sporting events.  She was most proud of the fact that she, Henry and all of their children graduated from Windthorst High School. She loved traveling and family gatherings and was always expected to bring her famous banana nut cake.  She never got to bring any home.

She is survived by her sons, Henry (Mary) of Anderson; Donald (Cathy) of Azle;  daughters, Sandra Chamberlain of Melissa; Pam Hill (Steve) of Wichita Falls; Shelley Schlumpf of Windthorst; and, Melissa Davis (Bart) of Sunnyvale; eighteen grandchildren, and twenty-six great-grandchildren; sisters, Joella Kubala and Glenda Layne; and brother, Bobby Simmons.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, and son-in-law, Mike Chamberlain.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Youth Group or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
