Josephine Cantu, age 79, of Electra, Texas passed away November 8, 2014 in Wichita Falls.
A vigil service and rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra. Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, at St. Paul Catholic Church of Electra with Rev. Richard Kirkham officiating. Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Josephine was born December 27, 1934 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Calletano Salazar and Phyllis Herrera Salazar.
She and Juan Juarez Cantu were married December 6, 1949 in LaFerria, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1984.
Josephine was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and contributed to Our Lady of San Juan Missionary for many years. Josephine enjoyed helping in the kitchen. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, coloring, doing puzzles and playing bingo. Her favorite pastime was listening to music.
Survivors include three daughters, Eva Sterner of Electra, Isabel Shed and husband, Ricky Parker of Decatur, and Lucy Cantu and husband, Javier Hernandez of Electra; six sons, Juan Cantu, Jr. of Vernon, Chris Cantu and wife, Dana of Lubbock, Peter Cantu and Abe Cantu, of Electra, Timmy Cantu of Garland, and Thomas Cantu and wife, Rosemary of Ft. Worth; two brothers, Candido Salazar of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Walter Salazar of Kingsburg, California; forty grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Josephine was also preceded in death by two daughters, Maria and Esmeralda Cantu; and two sons, Eliseo Cantu and Miguel Angel Cantu.
