John Casey Rodgers, age 60, of Wichita Falls, formerly of Archer City, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2015, at the First Baptist Church of Archer City with Rev. Bill Holder, Deacon of the Church of Good Shepherd in Wichita Falls, officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Casey was born September 13, 1954 in Ottawa, Kansas to the late Donald Lee Rodgers and Beverly Joan Moon Rodgers.
He graduated from Archer City High School in 1972 where he was class president and participated in all sports. He attended Midwestern University with a basketball scholarship. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education and later his Master's Degree. Casey was a coach, athletic director and administrator at various schools throughout Texas for thirty years. After his retirement, he was employed at the YMCA in Wichita Falls. Casey was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Mindy Bean of Johns Creek, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Judy Rodgers of McKinney, Texas; two nephews, Damon Rodgers and wife, Tina of Benson, Texas and Dustin Rodgers and wife, Jennifer of Weatherford, Texas; two nieces, Julie Rodgers Luckey and husband, Keith of Dallas, Texas and Peyton Bean Turner and husband, Tyler of Atlanta, Georgia; his aunt, Frieda Rodgers of Mineola, Texas; and cousin, Steve Rodgers and wife, Tricia of Mineola, Texas.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Andrew "Andy" Rodgers; and one brother-in-law, Ray Bean.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be combined to provide Archer City High School a memorial to Casey. Contributions can be sent to Mindy Bean, 6257 Clapham Lane, Johns Creek, Georgia 30097.
